Only exams are left
We got out of school today! I don’t remember the last day of last term being so … freeing. This time, just being able to do what I want, even just the thought of being able to do what I want, is like losing gravity. Instead of being chained to someone else’s rule, it’s my say.
Even more so, today at school, if you brought R10 and an old jacket or sweater of blanket or such, you could wear civvies*. Of course everyone complied. I think I saw one person (one grade 8 boy) still dressed in school uniform. But being able to bike in pants. Being able to wear what I want, in what color I want, and know that we all have freedom to choose, brings an unfounded sense of ultimate freedom.
However, I do need to remember, it’s not all fun and games yet. I still have to write 10 exams. 8 subjects, two papers each for IT and english. Some of them, like math, I’m not spending any time studying. Others, like Physical Science, I’ll spend time summarizing and cramming.
I don’t know if I’ve covered this, but in 10th grade here, you pick subjects. You must take Life Orientation (Social studies, History, Life Orientation, and PE), Math or Math Literacy, English, and Afrikaans. Then you take Geography, Computer Application Technology (CAT), or Information Technology (IT). Of those three, I picked IT. The second set of choices includes Economics, Business Studies, or Life Sciences (Biology). Of the second set, I picked Economics. The last group you pick one from is Dramatic Arts, Accounting, or Physical Science. I picked Physical Science which includes Chemistry and Physical Science itself.f.
Since I’m failing Afrikaans, and you have to pass 7 subjects, I’m doing Geography as a homeschooler. I see her about once a week or two, and she just goes over the stuff I should know, and then I teach myself.
So know all of you people who don’t go to my school, can know what’s going on there. And all of you people who go to my school, or at least finished regular school today? Rejoice and mourn. Rejoice for the end of term, and mourn for the tedious tests you must sit.

*Civvies = Civilian clothing = normal clothing
NB: If this was disjointed, please blame the hour of writing. It’s almost tomorrow.
