Maybe you have noticed your grocery costs rising – I haven’t, but maybe you have? - but the prices haven’t risen significantly. Worry about your sanity no longer; while prices are static, sizes have changed.
Sorry I’ve been gone. Holiday Club has happened here. It’s like intensive VBS. Compare 1 hour in the US to 4 hours in SA. And all the kids near the church for 4 hours, to just a few in a backyard for 1 hour. Enough said. Then there’s the whole getting to the church at 6:45 am for setting up and prayer and teaching. And add staying till 3pm because you were cleaning until 2 and didn’t eat till 2:30.
Anyway, it was fun. To keep you busy as I recover lost sleep, got compare this data.
A) Pirates win in South Africa
B) Ninjas win in America
Where do You Stand?
And, go calculate your height in odd units.
I am 1.3 Alaskan Moose Antler Spans Tall.
And we buy approximately 18 wine glasses worth of milk when we buy milk.
Yes, I unabashedly use this website for advertising purposes. Yes, this makes no sense, as the only evidenced readers I have are a) in the Us, b) in TX, c) not in SA, d) 1/2 not technically eligible [Sorry Paul, high school only. I know it's so disappointing since you were planning on coming.].
But I really get tired of telling my mom/dad/2 year old brother my endless plans. So, dear internet, you will listen. Because I can say it, and you have no need to even look like you’re listening. Mastermind!
For the June holiday/our 3 month visa renewal, we’re going to Mauritius, but we don’t leave until the second of June.
So… On June 28th we’ll have the second biweekly game night.
As has been previously sated, bring games, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Avery and Paul? You are invited, but your attendance is not expected. And if you come? Don’t worry about bringing games, snacks or drinks. ;)
And I suffer from insufficient hard drive space.
Facts;
Even with all this depressing news, I have a couple of solutions.
Book club date change is complete, along with a new poster.
On the other Saturdays, including this Saturday, we’ll be having game nights. Same time, just games. Bring snacks and drinks (like soda) and games. At our house, we’ll have lots of cards, scrabble, ping pong, foosball low quality and other such stuff.
I think I left off on … IT part 1. Part 2 was the practical, but that’s essentially just what we do in class so it was awesomely not so hard. Then on the sixth, yesterday, I wrote Afrikaans (yes, I did, for some weird reason…) which was this insanely long insanely difficult 2 hour test. I finished like 40 minutes early. Not because I answered all the questions… no. Because I couldn’t answer more than half of the questions. And I cannot speak Afrikaans, but I know a couple of the basics, and I can bring a dictionary in.
Fun
WE GOT A LAND LINE!

Ahem. The significance is that it now costs only 5 cents to talk to people overseas!!! Which means we don’t have to use Skype which doesn’t work. We can just talk on the phone!
While I’m not going to put the phone number up online (a: I don’t know the number, and b: that would under-mime my right to privacy. ) email me and I’ll call you and then you’ll have my number.
Just a quick update cause Claire’s friend Megan and her parents are here for dinner:
By popular demand, the book club date has been changed to June, 21, 2008. E mails will go out tonight to those whom I’ve emailed, and a new poster will be up at school by tomorrow afternoon.
And congrats to Avery. First comment! Let’s get a discussion going! Any parents or teachers think it’s important to put the stress on now, so that the real world is easier? Any other views?
Exams 2-3, Done;
I wrote Economics yesterday and IT today. Economics went well, but it could’ve gone better. IT went the, well but could’ve gone better.
Book Club, Advertised;
I put up the poster advertising my book club after I finished the IT Exam. I actually saw four (4) Afrikaans 9th graders looking at it after I put it up on the bulletin board by the office! I can’t wait!

We took English today. I was expecting something terribly hard. The english teacher is always getting fed up with the class’ behavior, and she then threatened to make the exam really hard. So when we take the 2 hour exam, and I end 50 minutes early? It’s a good surprise.
