I am a Quitter in Other Ways

I have been washing my hair with Shampoo and Conditioner for four weeks.  Sorry for the late followup.  My hair was doing better at the end of a month, and then about a week after, it got really greasy.  I really do have to go to bed now though.

I Refuse to Quit — For Now at Least

I think I’ve mentioned that Jack quit school.  He quit at the beginning of the term, and hasn’t looked back since.  Lily quit in heart at the beginning of the term, and missed almost two weeks total.  Then, about 3 weeks in, she quit in actuality.  She’s probably looked back once.

So for the majority of this term, it’s been Claire and I only: no one else from the S******** household.  That, as you may have anticipated, has changed.  This past Monday, Claire quit.

This means I am the only non-quitter.  Although, as I said, this is only a temporary situation.

We are visiting the US again in October for like a month.  This results in us getting back like a day or two before the start of term four, so we’re I’m just not coming back for term four.

We’re definitely coming back to SA at the end of October, because the people we’re renting from are threatening to sue if we leave early.  As far as I picked up, it’s simpler for us to just stay the extra month.

After that, my parents aren’t sure.  In the last month, they’ve started discussing us moving to Boston (of all the random and unnecessary things).  I don’t really think this is going to happen (and we all know that thinking affects actions… so if I think this enough, my lack of logic says it won’t happen…), but ya’ll might be interested.

I would prefer Austin, and then South Africa, with Boston pretty low.  And now that you guys know about my lack of current quitting, and my parents’ current plans for our lives, I need to go to bed.

We Aren’t Normally This Stereotypical

So tonight, after I got home from band practice (2 hours, too much), and after dinner (pork, rice, broccoli, cauliflower), I was eating strawberries and nutella, which I guess you just can’t beat, because within 5 minutes, almost all of my family had come to the table and joined me: Lily, Claire, Mommy.

Jack and Roderick were busy.  Busy playing computer.  I would guess Battlefield 1942, but I don’t know, cause I was eating chocolate and strawberries.

Yes indeed, the females were all eating chocolate, and the males were all playing computer games.  Are stereotypes pointless?  No, they’re often spot on.

****

And, a little non-typical, and non-stereotypical, type, as I was eating my nutella and strawberries, I came up with, and came up with with some help, an commercial idea…

There’s this table, with muted bright Swedish colors, and a simple, plain backdrop.  You see someone at the table, and they take a bite of something, and say ‘mmmh’ in a deep, content voice.  The scene flips, such that the camera is pointed at the same place at the table, but it’s a different person, eating something else entirely, but with the same reaction.  This flips a few times, but then, either it goes over the same people saying ‘ooh’ in pain, and a final person who is still eating happily, or it shows just the people saying ‘mmmh,’ and a final person who eats something and feels pain and says ‘ooh’.

The last bit will show the heart burn relief, with the happy announcer guy voice saying, “[insert name of product] keeps you feeling mmmh no matter what you eat.”   Or “[insert product name] takes the ooh out of food.”

This Is One Unepithetable Post

First, I read a most entertaining article about making words up.

Second, in response to Paul’s comment on my shampooing habits (or lack thereof), yes, this whole baking soda thing won’t necessarily do anything for my health, my hair’s health, or the world’s health.  That’s okay though.  At the very least, I (and by I, I of course mean my parents.  And by parents, I of course mean my dad cause it’s his money) save money.  Even without proof on wether or not shampoo is harmful to anyone’s health, I probably am putting less chemicals on my hair.  And, why not.  I have every right to sacrifice my hair for science… Right?

‘When do you shower?’ and other hair related questions

First, let’s get some sort of discussion.  Do ya’ll (contraction, you+all, mainly South-Western-American) prefer showering in the morning or at night?

I for one prefer showering in the morning if I have time, but if showering in the morning means waking up early, I’ll shower at night.

Let me just say that this is definitely a recent change.  A year ago, I would have preferred to take a bath at night.  But recently, I find that I want to do useful and enjoyable things at night, when my brain is actually functioning.  And I now prefer a shower, again because of time.

Most of the time I do shower at night, just because I’m not capable of waking up that early.

Also, as an interesting scientific experiment, I no longer condition or shampoo my hair.

You heard (read) me right.  I recently came across an interesting article, here, about why and how we shouldn’t use shampoo or conditioner in our hair.  Suffice it to say, that I am trying it, at least for a month, and so far, it’s been a week and I’m still in the greasy stage.  That’s okay, I hear (read) it takes a matter of weeks, not days, and after all, all in the name of science!

And, clarification to all you sweating Texans, it is winter here.  Winter here, as far as I can tell means freezing at 7h30am when I ride to school in my skirt, and sweat inducing weather at 2pm when I ride home (also in a skirt, but I’m no longer freezing).

***

To summarize, let’s get the discussion going!  What are your preferred showering times?  Do ya’ll think I’m crazy with the whole baking soda and apple cider vinegar thing?
