Roderick’s Vocabulary

I don’t know what TV shows Roderick was watching while I was at school every day.  I really don’t know what he was watching given that our TV only gets two channels, both with bad reception.  Anyway, this source of his vocabulary (both phrases and words) would be of great interest.  He says the most uncanny things.

Apparently, I’m a Severely Confused Person

I say this, simply because I seem to be lost quite often.

First, all day today, I found myself totally zoning out.

Like in IT.  The teacher is in Italy for two weeks, so she gave us all our work, and while she’s gone are supposed to do our work while a sub keeps the peace.  Now, the plan of course was for us to work.  The actual fact of it is that most of the kids don’t work.  Aidan (not sure about the spelling) was sitting next to me, and as I was working, would talk to me.  Most of the time, I am more than capable of multi tasking; I’m sure all of you have spoken with me while I take pictures.  Today, however, I kept just either screwing the programming up, or totally missing what Aidan said, and having to say what.

This wasn’t a sui generis event.  This kept.  Happening.  All.  Day.

Take when I went to Danielle’s house to watch Danielle and Amoret do the dance they’re doing for P’Articipate, Midstream’s cultural festival.  They would totally mess up or something, and would be lying on the floor incapacitated for their laughing, and I’d keep on staring at them, clueless.

This, this blanking out, isn’t the only problem.  I also appear to have had our schedule regarding travel totally wrong.  We leave a day or two before the start of term four.  And we don’t actually have flights back to SA, so yeah.

My brain?  Not functioning.  I even think I had another example of the lack of cognisability of my brain, but I can’t think of it now.  Oh well.

I’ll see each of ya’ll with in the next three months, unless I’ve picked up readers I don’t even know.  In which case, I won’t see you…

Either way, Toodle-pip.

Shameless Advertising Needs It’s Own Post

Game Night on my birthday this Saturday.

You probably know the routine: 6-10pm, my house (address on RSVP), feel free to bring snacks, drinks, games, etcetera.

The week after (it’s the 13th, I’ll do the math for you) is a book club.  We’ll discuss The Giver by Lois Lowry.  Even if you can’t come, if you haven’t read that book, you desperately need to read it.  You are also welcome to bring drinks, games, etcetera, it’s also at my house (address on RSVP), 6-10pm.

I’m not giving you my email or cell number, cause that’s a big aperture for junk mail, so if you don’t have any way of getting to me, make a plan, as every South African teacher I’ve run into seems to love to say.
