I don’t care what you call it, cause it doesn’t matter what you call it; it matters how you live it.
– Matt R
My mom produced a play at our church, based on the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth. During the play, an angel visits Zechariah and Mary, and my mom commissioned myself and a couple friends to create some wings for the angel.
These are the wings, which we have now submitted in the church’s co-forging art exhibit.
They are made of dowel rods (support at the back), white duck tape, white paper, and newspaper, and were created by Audrey, Hannah, and myself, with collaborative help from our girls’ bible study, including Elizabeth, Abbey, and Mandy.
We went to the old Trinity University campus in Tehuacana.
Poodle and I went up early with Noah, Kara, and Jodi to help set up.

We then went to HEB in Mexia. We got dinner at a little taco stand. (Although I didn’t; they had no vegetarian options and I had leftover lunch that I ate.)
The next day, after breakfast and a quiet time, we had a team building exercise.

We net down the fire escapes again, but I got just one picture before I was knocked over.
There was lots of good discussion and teaching.
Afterwards, I played a game of Dominion with Steven, Matt, Joseph, Colin, and Cali.
The next morning we took a group photo in Texas Hall, the awesome, minorly creepy, slightly decrepit old building sometimes used to film horror movies.
And of course the excursion ended where it started — in a car.
The pro-life movement here in Austin has got a strong community behind it. A bunch of them put together a song & music video, Almighty | Pro-Life Music Video , which turned out really well.

Some notes from bible study last Wednesday (20101117).
Keep his mind off the most elementary duties by directing it to the most advanced and spiritual ones.
The Screwtape Letters, p.3
It is so easy to slip into this behavior in which we focus on honing our “advanced” or “big” skills and leaving off those elementary ones. And it really comes down to pride. We do the basic ones over and over every day, for those are the ones that require repeated practice, and we start to feel as though we’ve got this under our belt
.
Yet we can never truly reach perfection at a task, so this task will never be checked off the list. And it is only in the daily practice of our basic duties that any larger task can be accomplished. That is to say that no matter how we advance
, we must still perform the basic duties.
It would be like saying, I’ve practiced breathing enough. I think I’m ready to stop breathing and move on to more advanced things, like talking
; totally absurd.
The first thing we can do to avoid this behavior, this leaving off of the most basic, yet most vital duties, is to realize their importance, and continue to practice them. The second thing we must do is remain humble. For it is in pride that we feel the basic tasks unnecessary and beneath us.
Knowing the correct password – saying ‘Master, Master,’ for instance – isn’t going to get you anywhere with me. What is required is serious obedience – doing what my Father wills.
1 Every person who believes that Jesus is, in fact, the Messiah, is God-begotten. If we love the One who conceives the child, we’ll surely love the child who was conceived. 2 The reality test on whether or not we love God’s children is this: Do we love God? Do we keep his commands? 3 The proof that we love God comes when we keep his commandments and they are not at all troublesome. 4 Every God-begotten person conquers the world’s ways. The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our faith.
i.e. two days of exhausting, fun, competitive talking.
